I'm so sick of phone calls!

Category: the Rant Board

Here I am, back on the rant board. I'm talking about the many calls I get during the day when I'm home alone. I don't know how many times I have to say, I'm sorry, he or she's not available. It's just so dang annoying! Why do these calls keep coming, I don't know! They are always telemarketers, wanting something. I just don't answer the dang phone anymore. The problem is, my mom and dad want me to take down every caller, and they're messages. I just don't want to waste my day just taking messages. Sheesh! That's what an answering machine's good for! Besides, I can't remember the number of every person that calls!
That's my word on the matter.

that's why there is a do not call list for Telemarketers.
There's also a thing called voicemail, it can be your friend.

I hear paying to have your number blocked is expensive.

You don't pay for it is free

Katie:
Assuming many of these calls are for your parents, try writing numbers etc. down when you're on the phone with whomever. Also, accustom yourself to the reality that, as long as you do not live in your own apartment/house, the majority of the calls will not be for you, and as the only one home during the day, it is one of your duties as a fully functioning family member to take and relay messages. Quit whining about it. It's the least you can do to help those who are otherwise saving your ass from being on the street.

well, most of these calls are telemarketers. I'll only get a lagitimit call once in a while.

I know the feeling about theese calls of people who are celling something. But I would like to work on the phone taking messages. If it is a call for a member of your family try and find something to take the message and the phone number like a tape recorder or something. That's what a blind reseptionist once told me. i would like to be a reseptionist one day.

get a talking caller ID and don't answer blocked numbers or ones out of your area.

Where on earth would you get a talking caller id. As I get better at taking messages, it's not quite so bad anymore. It's just the annoying telemarketers.

Not sure if this helps but maybe make your number unlisted?

Independent living aids or Maxi-Aids has talking caller ID's. just do a google search or something.

I used to have one. There was some way you could catagorize numbers in to family, friends, exsetra.

Good ideas. In fact, I got two phone calls for dad, and I relayed the messages just fine.
